The Wrestler

It's been a long time since I've been as excited as this for an upcoming film. I've been quite disconnected from films lately and reading a recent TIME issue I found about the new project by director Darren Aronofsky titled "The Wrestler" starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei (who I think is beautiful) so I immediately opened a browser and looked the trailer up. God, I was stunned. I think I've never been hit as hard as this with a trailer, as strange and peculiar as it may sound. I was really moved by the images and Mickey Rourke's performance, and to be honest I think it's one of the best impersonations I've seen in my life. No make-up, just flesh and bones. And then there's the song that plays with the trailer. I found out Bruce Springsteen wrote it for free because Darren was having trouble raising the money to make the film since he refused cash from investors who demanded a bigger name for the lead role. I haven't seen the movie, just the trailer (although in www.rottentomatoes.com, the film has a score rating of 100% up until today) so I'm not sure that it is all it promises to be but to be honest I find so much of me in that trailer that it's overwhelming, and yes my expectations are high, maybe too high, but it's a film I'm dying to see, and even if it fails completely, I still have that awesome trailer that reminds me so much of me.

"My only faith's in the broken bones and bruises I display..."
